Hi Randall,
I'm not sure why you keep making this line of a comment. KBD layout
has nothing to do with specific language, culture, tradition, etc.
With modern computer technology, we do not have to use some arbitrary
'standard' kbd layout. It's all about ergonomics [1].
When I started Dvorak layout in late 1970's on Selectric IBM
typewriter (such a wonder!) there was only one typing ball available
for Dvorak. I finally had the typewrite itself fixed into Dvorak
layout (at Cambridge typewriter Co., Cambridge, MA - of course it's
defunct longtime ago with demise of typewrites) so that I could use
any typing ball for different font for Dvorak typing.
Now with modern PC, a key stroke is all you need to change to any
layout you fancy, unless you make yourself bound to someone's
standard.

learning typewriting" by Dvorak, Merick, Dealey, Ford (American Book

a copy from the Dvorak family.
