Suzanne McCarthy, who has previously had nice things to say about
the Vamvas Greek version of the GNT, notes in her blog today
(http://powerscourt.blogspot.com/2011/02/vamva-greek-bible.html)
that the whole version, including the OT, is accessible online at:
http://www.gospel.gr/
For those who don't know about it, I cite from Suzanne's notice:
"This 19th century version of the Bible by Neofitos Vamvas,
a distinguished linguist and noted Bible scholar, was published
in 1850 with the collaboration of British and Foreign Bible
Society (BFBS). It was not accepted by the Greek Orthodox
Church which continues to use a version of the original
Greek New Testament and the Septuagint translation of
the Hebrew Bible."
I guess one would call this a Katharevousa version; for one
whose Modern Greek is not quite equal to his/her ancient
Greek (i.e. myself) , this is a delightful version to read.
