Hell all-
I received the following note from a friend. Is this as clear-cut a case for
Granville-Sharp as their note makes out?
> There is a rule in Greek called the Granville-Sharp rule. This rule
> states that if there is a series of nouns, and one of the nouns does
> not have an article, but the preceding one does, then those two are
> linked together. In Ephesians 4:11, the Granville-Sharp rule would
> be like this: There is an article preceding all of the nouns in vs. 11
> except for teacher. So it looks like this:
>
> (the) apostles
> (the) prophets
> (the) evangelists
> (the) pastors
> teachers
>
> Therefore, according to the Granville-Sharp rule, pastors and
> teachers are actually one entity: (the) pastors-teachers.
What's the impact (or not) of the Rule for this passage?
Blessings,
Tom
