A commentary I am reading indicated that SKANDALON may represent a snare
that "causes others" to become entrapped or to stumble, or it may be that
the SKANDALON here is a reference to the fact that "within" this brother who
loves, there is no internal spiritual condition whereby he might "cause
himself" to stumble.
Are there any determining factors that would help shed some light on this
(no pun intended)?
Can SKANDALON be either:
1. that which we do that would cause others to become entrapped
2. that which causes ourselves to entrap ourselves
BTW, EN AUTWi is rejected by one commentary as referring to "in it (the
light)," since it would be redundant to say there is no cause of stumbling
in the light.
That was quite a scandal. Sorry to have to expose this.
Thank you,
Mark Wilson
