Dear b-Greekers,
On another List someone has brought up Clement of Alexandria's Epistle to
Theodore, in connection with the suppression of certain verses from Mark's
Gospel. Apparently this is a "corrective" to the Raising of Lazarus in John
11. Reference was made to two books by Professor Morton Smith:
/Clement of Alexandria and a Secret Gospel of Mark/, Harvard UP, 1973; and
/The Secret Gospel/, Gollancz, London, 1978.
Could anyone enlighten me about this matter, preferably off-List by email?
Is there a WWW-site where I can read the text of Clement to Theodore?
Is Professor Morton Smith a recognised authority on pseudepigrapha?
Yours gratefully for any information,
Ben
