Moulton and Milligan, Vocabulary of the Greek NT Illustrated from the Greek
Papyri and other Non-literary Sources, shows that the TWN PAIDISKWN
(PAIDISKH, vs 69) TOU ARCIEREWS refers to the female slaves of the
Highpriests. Originally the term probably referred to a young woman, but
came to refer to slaves.
