>>Hmmm...in John, Logos generally seems to refer to Jesus. I don't *think*
that hRHMA is ever used to refer to Jesus. Is "rational principle" really
the right gloss for LOGOS when it refers to Jesus?
Allow me to correct myself, as I was guilty of looking for "the one true
meaning" of the LOGOS. I was thinking of the following technical meanings:
1. [Philos] The impersonnel rational principle that governs and develops
2. [Theol] The divine word or reason incarnate in Jesus Christ. John 1:1-14
I wonder how much drew on ? Would John's readers have immediately
thought of ?
It is my understanding that LOGOS in general may mean a word, saying,
speech, discourse, thought, proportion, ratio, or reckoning.
