There is nothing wrong with rote memorization at all. My wife was able to
grasp my mnemonic very quickly. Right now, I'm trying to put together a few
tutorial web pages for real beginners, and I wanted to include some advice
on memorizing the order so that people have a fighting chance of being able
to look things up. I think that I'll include both my own mnemonic and the
method Mark O'Brien mentioned, which is pretty much what you suggest. People
can see which works best for them.

Of course, if another really good approach shows up, I'll post it instead or
in addition.
