I think you probably found that term used in the archives of several years
back when our forum discussions were more wide-raning than in recent times.
As I recall, we tended to use that term for the professional academic NT
scholars whose consensus opinions on matters of textual criticism,
historical Jesus, and the like were ones with which a particular poster
would disagree; we'd write something like, "This is what I believe to be
the truth, even if the 'guild' thinks otherwise."
