I think we probably need to move this to the list so that everyone can benefit from the discussion. But, in the mean time: Messina, Joseph J wrote: > Patrick, > > One of the agenda items for our August 17 teleconference is a Category > A Liaison with the XML Guild letter ballot that is a mandatory second > vote on the same that came up in a prior INCITS-V1 meeting. > > The objection leading to this mandatory second vote may have some merit. > While it does seem appropriate that JTC1/SC34 and the XML Guild > establish a liaison relationship, the proposed Category A "liaisonship" > may not be the correct one. > > SC34 currently has Category A liaison with OASIS and Ecma. The only principled distinction seems to be that Category C doesn't participate beyond the SC level and it has a two year review cycle. To make sure the organization is actively participating. > No response required as I was just reviewing the materials as you > requested, and I wanted to get this down while it was still fresh in > my mind as our teleconference is still more than three weeks away. > > Deeply appreciate your reviewing the documents. Do you have any suggestions for how we should proceed after we get all the national body comments? I realize it is going to be a lot of work and one suggestion that has been made to me is that Rex and I sort the comments into "buckets" such as WordprocessingML comments, etc., and then have smaller groups work through them. Not that anyone would be prohibited from discussing any comment before the entire committee but simply so we can cover all the comments before the BRM. Hope you are looking forward to a great weekend! Patrick > Joseph J.
