2005 Cabinet

Highlights of the 2005 season included appearances with the BMC Orchestra by violinist Joshua Bell, mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade, and pianist Jon Nakamatsu. The Season Finale concert, conducted by BMC Artistic Director David Effron, was a performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 6. Keith Lockhart was guest conductor for a concert with the Transylvania Symphony Orchestra.

Chamber music concerts included a pair of performances by the Diaz Trio (with guest violinist Elmar Oliveira), a pair by the Miami String Quartet (including a complete performance of Beethoven's Op. 59 quartets), a recital by violinist William Preucil, a concert by violist Miles Hoffman with BMC faculty, and the now-annual concert by I Solisti di Brevard, a string chamber orchestra comprised of BMC's outstanding Young Artist students.

Operas and musicals included

Don Freund was composer in residence. Steven Smith was a guest conductor for a program with the BMC Orchestra, and violinist Christina Castelli was soloist in the annual National Federation of Music Clubs Concert. There were eleven concerts of student chamber music and three student composers' concerts.
