I don’t work or live in downtown Carrboro and see no specific reason to pay for those who do. Providing hotels, retail, and mixed office spaces with internet connectivity isn’t a burden that taxpayers should be carrying.

Getting internet to low income neighborhoods is of interest, but most of those neighborhoods are wired with cable, so I think we need to discuss new infrastructure but rather how to pay for the service.

The primary goal of the non-profit I started, Orange Networking, has always been to bridge the digital divide. Its been a topic of several of my comments at Town of Chapel Hill council meetings. I will continue to fight to bring coverage to neighborhoods like Rogers Road.

To make this happen in our communities we need local business on our side. I believe many local business and property owners have kind hearts and want to see this happen.
