Almost 100 Carrboro High student members of the Global Health Club ran a campaign this month to raise more than $30,000 to benefit community health and development work in Mali, West Africa. The students walked 20 miles through the Carolina North Forest Pumpkin Loop Trail to showcase their efforts and publicly thank donors.
Students asked friends, family members and neighbors for donations and relied on the club’s Facebook page to encourage donations. Project Muso, a nonprofit that partners with communities in Yirimadjo, Mali, to solve the root problems of health crises, will receive the donation.
