The Writing Method Preference Test
You probably already know if you are
a tree person or a forest person. But if you are still uncertain,
or just for fun, you can take the test below.
Choose one answer for each question.
- When you go to a grocery store, do you:

- You are giving a dinner party. Do you:
- A. usually write down the menu you will serve?

- You are planning a two-week vacation. Do you:

- You are visiting a strange city. In your motel/hotel room are various
brochures describing the local attractions. Do you:
- A. read them and make a list of what you want to see?
- B. read them but not make a list?
- C. seldom read them at all.
- You are going camping for the weekend in an unfamiliar area. Do you:
- A. look at a map, find campsites, and write down the names of potential
places to stay?
- B. glance at the map for ideas but write nothing down?
- C. just take off, figuring you'll find a campsite along the way?
Tabulating Results
Count 2 points for each A answer, 1 point for each B answer, and 0 points for
each C answer.
10-8 points: a tree person
7-6 points: leaning toward a tree person
5 points: borderline
4-3 points: leaning toward a forest person
2-0 points: a forest person
