N.C. Barbeque: Jimmy's Barbeque

1703 Cotton Grove Road (right at I-85 exit 91)
Lexington (704) 352-2311

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. We (four of us) just wrote the most complete and interesting page for Jimmy's. And the guy with the computer job accidentally deleted the file. So I'll leave it to The Mayor to try to reconstruct the glory that was....

S-s-s-s-uculent! Juicy! It's a major barb in the buttocks to find your way around Lexington [actually, if you know how to find the interstate it's pretty damn easy to get here--Alec], but--damn!--go find Jimmy's. Even though the counter lady with the bouffant is meaner than a trained attack poodle, it's worth your while to locate Jimmy's and brave that old dame's evilness. Yes, Lord! Not only is the shredded pig comparable to manna from heaven, but the sauce is a tasty, peppery wonderment. Go today. Better yet, go yesterday. --The Mayor

Jimmy's won today's four-way pork-off in contest with Blue Mist, Hannah's, and Stamey's. (Although Blue Mist was a close second, and Carrie, one of our compatriots, held her ground, claiming to the end that it beat Jimmy's any day of the week.) But The Mayor, Adam, Cassie and myself, along with Kristen (another guest taster) favored Jimmy's. The secret is the really finely ground pork that proves to any of the heathen that barbeque is not white trash food, it's a delicacy. And Adam W. was so blown away by Jimmy's barbeque slaw that he claimed it was "the best thing on the table," including the Q! (OK, that boy needs some "re-education", but the slaw *was* damn good.)

Anthony and myself made a trip over Christmas on our way back from Charlotte; Lexington the perfect stopping point midway between Charlotte and Chapel Hill, and Jimmy's is open till 9:30. Just don't go there on Tuesdays, cause it's closed. And don't eat too much if you plan to drive!!! I'd feel safer with a 6-pack of beer in my belly on the road than I would with a full plate of barbeque late at night... You have been warned! --Alec
