Now that they're building some kind of childrens museum on the old
DAV site, this store has relocated to Crabtree Road, which is nowhere
near the mall of the same name. To get there, head northerly on
Capital
Blvd. After you pass the giant yellow Indoor Flea Market on your
right,
which is worth a visit in its own right, the next stoplight will
be Crabtree.
Turn right. The DAV is a little ways up on your left (and the American
Way is directly across the street, on your
right).
DAV is worth a trip because it's so close to the infinitely superior
American Way thrift store, but not for any
other reason. Unless you like
bad Christmas music. Their record selection is probably one-half
Xmas
music--I'm talking at least a couple of hundred records' worth.
Otherwise, they're one of the few thrift stores in Raleigh to regularly
stock large appliances, so they're noteworthy for that. But their
clothes
and other equippage are usually cruddy and overpriced.
