GAD ABOUT TOWN
----------------------

(((Get Well Soon!)))
Tom McGowan's daughter, Elizabeth Behrens, survived a serious
automobile accident. The accident occurred on Dornan Drive. Apparently
that is not the first accident to occur at that location. Hopefully the
city will put up a warning sign and a guard rail soon. The car she was
riding in missed the sharp curve, went out of control and landed on the
railroad tracks below. Elizabeth sustained multiple fractures and serious
internal injuries and is now out of the hospital. I know that everyone in
town is with us in wishing her a speedy recovery.

(((Doggone it, Chuck!)))

Chuck Wise (world-class gourmet chef from the Baltic) took a tumble
while he and his wife, Kim, were walking their dog one evening and he
banged up his face a bit. When this Channel reporter asked him what
happened he said he cut himself shaving, but we knew better. Chuck,
may we suggest eating more of the carrots you buy from the Richmond Farmers'
Market and taking a flashlight the next time you walk the dog? Please,
don't get hurt, I don't know how I could live without your twice-baked
polenta.

(((All Sewn Up)))
Liane Venzke, our local acupuncturist, performed an accidental
"surgical procedure" on her finger while pruning bushes. A few stitches
later, and hopefully her finger will be as good as new in no time. She's
great with those needles, but I think sheĠd better be watch the scissors.

(((Not So Funny)))
     Joel Beck, (the Channel's nationally-known cartoonist -- you'll view
his work in future issues of the E-Channel), has been quite ill and is
recovering now in the Martinez area. Keep sending those cartoons and take
care of yourself. Hope to see you around here real soon.

(((Wreckreation)))
Barbara Moran, head of Human Resources for the City of Richmond,
recently returned to work after a serious back injury and surgery.
Barbara, we know you are in charge of recreation for the city but please
watch that dancing!

(((Instrumental)))
I'm sure Mr. and Mrs. Glen Foor of Point Richmond are proud of their
son. Dr. Thomas Foor recently bought the old Plaza Veterinary Hospital in
El Cerrito. He renamed it Dr. Foor Paws Pet Hospital. In addition to
being adept with surgical instruments, I understand the doctor plays the
violin and viola quite well.
Stefen, who painted the no longer extant Dutch Boy Mural in Berkeley
was commissioned to paint a mural of Point Isabel Regional Park (the local
"dog park") on the side of the hospital. Looks great, and it's still
"in progress."

(((Filing Single-Being Double?)))
Michael Doyle Haley, owner of Richmond Boatworks, and Deborah D.
Alley, EA, local tax accountant, were married in a small private ceremony
at Lakeside Chapel in South Lake Tahoe on June 4th, 1994. Dennis Haley,
the groom's brother, was the Best Man. Amber Alley, the bride's daughter,
gave her mother away. The couple honeymooned at the Ahwahnee Hotel in
Yosemite National Park.

(((Raising Curtains and Funds)))
The Masquers Playhouse has been working overtime on some innovative
and fun fundraising events. They would like to publicly thank all the
people who helped make the First Annual Point Richmond Neighborhood Yard
Sale such a great success. Marie Peckham said "Because of all your efforts
and donations, we were able to make a profit of $1,318.90." She would have
liked to have listed everyone, but this is a small newspaper. Start saving
items for next year's sale. The Masquers also held their First Annual
Progressive Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday June 11. The first prize raffle
winner was Mel Menefee who shared the evening with seven members of his
family. The party was met at the Masquers by four chauffeur-driven
vehicles: Bob Peckham driving Clay Bernard's White Rolls Royce, Chano
Forner in his VW limo, John Farnsworth in his Ô37 Buick Sedan and Rob
Marian in his purple Rolls Royce. The couples were taken to Maxine
Stoddard's home for appetizer, Olene Spark's home for salad, David and
Melani King's home for the main dish, and then to Minot and Mallory Tripp's
home for dessert. After dinner they were whisked off to the playhouse for
the performance of _Dracula, The Musical_. Everyone who participated in
this event had a great time -- not only the winners but also the workers.
They truly made this an Evening to Remember. I hope they make it a
tradition..

((("I Want Your Blood"))>
Besides two "stage" doctors in the latest production at the Masquers
Playhouse -- _Dracula, the Musical_, directed by Betsy Bell Ringer
(Herb Caen, are you reading this?) -- cast member, Linda Woody-Wood
who plays Sophie Seward, the wife of the doctor in charge of the family
madhouse, is studying for her doctorate. Long time R.N. (She probably
knows more about "drawing" blood than even Dracula), Linda is attending
U.C. San Francisco to earn her Ph.D. in Nursing.
