Company C, 3110th Signal Service Battalion
Photos of Signal Units in the Normandy Campaign
Depicting what the 3110th may have experienced

These photos are from the the French site PhotosNormandie.

They are undated and the archives states they are from WW2. The archives from which they were obtained covers the entire war including the Normandy and Northern France Campaigns. Company C arrived at the end of the Normandy Campaign. The rest of the battalion arrived during the Northern France Campaign.

Many of the photos appear to be from the U.S. Signal Corps. They include unidentified men and woman in unidentified Signal Units in Valognes and Cherbourg where the 3110th served. All companies of the 3110th served in or around Valognes. Only Company C served in Cherbourg.

Valognes was a major communications center for SHAEF and COMZ.

Company C and other units may have been bivouacked in Tamerville.

Company C may have been one of the Signal units that constructed these facilities or the poles and wires for them.

High resolution copies are available at PhotosNormandie.
