Shawn Marion is extremely quick and
possesses great athleticism. Marion runs the court among the best in the country. On the
fast break, he is very dangerous. An underestimated shooter, Marion can nail the shot when
needed. Marion will likely fit in at the small forward, but may be called upon to play
the two guard. Phoenix has often been mentioned as a suitable home for Marion, but they
will unlikely use the 9th overall pick to take him. Marion is also an excellent defender,
gets many steals and blocks many shots with his leaping ability. Marion is also a good
rebounder, hitting double digits many times.
Marion is mature enough for the NBA. He is a good leader on the floor and will carry a
team. I attend all UNLV games, and Marion is just simply exciting to watch. Marion turned
it up in the conference games, averaging over 21 points and 11 rebounds over the second
half of the season. Marion's play in the WAC tournament was also admirable.
People have often referred to Marion as a Scottie Pippen with a poorer jump shot.
However, Marion is currently training with former NBA player Kiki Vandeweghe, helping
Marion polish his shooting before the rookie camp in Chicago. Marion might be a low
lottery pick, and should be gone before the end of the first round.
