Speak
out: How do you feel about the possibility of paying for night
parking?
by Nicole Brusik & Alex Lawson
In this week's Speakout segment we asked UNC-Chapel Hill
students how they feel about the possibility of paying for
night parking.
"I drive to campus and it's about a 15-minute walk or so
for me just to get to campus, said Cassie Bridges, an UNC-Chapel
Hill sophomore. "And if I'm here late at night, studying in
the library, I honestly don't feel safe as a female walking
back to my apartment."
"I come on campus a lot after five o'clock and need a parking
spot and it's hard enough to get a parking spot as it is,"
said Matt Viser, a UNC-Chapel Hill senior.
"I don't understand why they're going to do this, said Jennifer
Frazier, a UNC-Chapel Hill sophomore. "There's nowhere else
to park and we all need cars up here." "We can't just be stuck
on campus. I feel like I'm at camp," she said.
"When I do have my car, and it is after hours, I should
be able to park wherever I want and not have to pay a 30 dollar
ticket for parking in a spot that is unmarked and unreserved,"
said Alex Woodbury, a UNC-Chapel Hill sophomore.
Our sample isn't scientific and shouldn't be taken as a
reflection of widespread opinion on campus.
