Men's Basketball vs UVA
by Joe Disney

It's not news that Carolina men's basketball is having a down year.

But Tar Heel fans began to see improvement, in a close defeat against the number 7 team in the country.

Carolina started hot in the first half, breaking the Virginia defense, led by point guard Adam Boone and senior Jason Capel.

Freshman Jawad Williams, playing with more confidence, scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Coach Matt Doherty, as always, intense.

Senior Kris Lang once again dominated down low, with a team leading 18 points.

In the end, mistakes nabbed the Heels' victory hopes, but as Boone said, the players are beginning to fit into their roles.

"It's good to see guys understanding what they need to do on the floor," Boone said.

"I feel everybody can contribute, but the biggest key is knowing what coach wants out of us and how to get it done.

It's good to see the freshmen, as well as everybody else, kinda understanding that right now."

Going for the basket.
