Alumni Gift Giving Down
by Katie Loovis
Do you love your Carolina experience enough to contribute to it
financially after you graduate?
Fewer and fewer recent Carolina graduates are contributing.
In fact, only 12 percent of Carolina Young Alumni make yearly contributions,
where as Wake has 20 percent and Duke University has 26 percent.
Fewer alumni contributions means fewer student scholarships, fewer
endowed professorships, and fewer campus landmarks
To increase young alumni gift giving, the University Office of
Development has created the "Good to Know
" Campaign.
The Young Alumni Director, Emily Stevens manages the Good to Know...
campaign. Stevens says, "Increased Young Alumni gifts will
help propel UNC to the first university in the nation. So the bottom
line of the program is to increase the value of your degee by giving
back to the university after you graduate so you can preserve the
value of your degree as well as your Carolina experience."
Stevens says we can expect to see and hear how "Good it is
to Know
" about the importance of alumni gifts throughout
the next few months.
