Remembering Dr. King
By Jennifer Griffiths
Carolina students celebrated their freedom by remembering the
life of Martin Luther King Junior.
Students and faculty united in a candlelight vigil held Tuesday
evening.
Service projects gave other students the chance to fulfill Dr. King's
message of helping others.
They spent their Monday holiday volunteering in the community.
This week's events have given Shannon Eaves the chance to display
her respect for the late civil rights leader.
Shannon Eaves, a UNC Chapel Hill junior said, "Today we are able
to be here black, white, yellow, purple and attend class together
and be friends if we want to.
Those were things that weren't possible 30 or 40 years ago and I
feel that Martin Luther King was very influential in making that
happen."
