Joycelyn Elders Speaks
at Memorial Hall
By Adaure Achumba
Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy is about racial equality, social
justice, non-violence and change.
Carolina Week caught up with former Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders
who says change should begin with health and sex education.
"College students certainly need to make sure they practice safe
sex. You have to assume that everybody regardless to whom they are
has an STD or have AIDS, and I think if you assume that, well then
you'll do what's right and best for you." Said Elders.
Elders was invited by the Office of Minority Affairs to speak
at Memorial Hall as part of the University's MLK Events.
More events were schedule throughout the week.
