New application for using Dacco off line

QDacco is a new application, written by Carles Pina i Estany, which allows users to search the Dacco dictionaries off line and, therefore, much more quickly.

The current version, 0.2, is in beta. We would encourage users to try it and hope that they will spot bugs (which, if reported, will be resolved). Some functionality still needs to be added but the basics are there (you can search for words in both languages).

In order to use QDacco you need to have a copy of Dacco's dictionaries on your computer already. You can get a copy of these by downloading the current release of Dacco:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dacco/dacco-0.9.zip?download

(the dictionaries themselves are available under the LGPL, QDacco is available under the GPL).

Once you have saved the unzipped data onto your hard disk, you should download a copy of QDacco. The first time that you run QDacco it will ask where your dictionaries are located. You must specify the location of your dictionaries directory (NOT the subdirectories engcat or cateng).

If you want the Windows version of QDacco, you should download the following file:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dacco/QDacco-win-0.2.zip?download

Extract the contents of the zip file to a folder and run QDacco.exe.

If you want the GNU / LInux version, you should download:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dacco/QDacco-linux-02.tar.gz?download

If you are downloading the Linux version you need to execute the following commands to get it to run:

gunzip QDacco-02.tar.gz
tar -xvf QDacco-02.tar
cd QDacco
qmake -project
qmake
lrelease
make

In order to do this you need to have the following packets installed:
qt3-dev-tools
libqt3-mt-dev

(or equivalents - depending on your distribution).
