i’ll be driving to florida as it takes almost as long and way more money to fly, and then i wouldn’t have a car to go anywhere off property. i’m very much looking forward to some forced relaxation – no internet, no work, no housework… but i am bringing my running shoes

ugh, i’m such a bad blogger. the past month has been busy, but in a good way. we’ve moved 18 of ibiblio’s servers to their new home in the MCNC datacenter, both with and without incident. now that we’ve recovered from that upheaval, we proceeded to re-route our traffic out onto the National Lambda Rail, a research network that saves us major $$$. next up is “the big one” – we’ll move about 20 more servers, but as they’re a tangled spaghetti mess of NFS mounts and dependencies, they’ll need to move all at once. as long as we’re moved and serviceably cleaned up in time for me to go to Disney with my parents, i’ll be happy.

my social life has been quiet and/or non-existent, but with all that’s going on right now i’m not totally unhappy about that. i’m still calculating the levels of certain friendships, several of them very long friendships, as i have had the friend’s value of the worth of our friendship demonstrated to me in both positive and negative ways. i’m no island, but i take as much as i can in stride.

social life aside, i love my job more than ever, my condo is comfy and i’m enjoying the pool while the weather is still nice, and my parents are still in good health – a nice life, though right now i’m coasting and watching the gas mileage climb.
