self-preservation
April 28, 2007 on 9:26 pm | In rants | No Commentsso, a few things that have happened in my personal life in the past week or two have shaken me to the core, shattering the little bubble in which i had sort of nested myself. once i progressed through the appropriate stages of flipping out, grieving, and a few days of being very, very angry, i have made a vow to myself that i will no longer be walked on, no longer be manipulated, and that i will remove negative influences from my life.
if flakiness counts, four people are removing themselves from my social rotation.
sometimes it’s easy being green
April 1, 2007 on 4:16 pm | In ramblings | No Commentsi’ve been seeing a lot of green recently. no, not the root of all evil, but rather the sublime transformation of pine trees reclaiming old fields, the past week’s budding of just about every plant in this hardiness zone, and yes, the yellow-green patina of plant-love.
the rebirth of spring is echoed by a sort of rebirth of my soul. the winter’s negativity is gone, many of the nagging system problems are gone or will be going away, and if the SUR grant and other projects come through my place of work will be doing some major growing of its own.
i myself am no longer so green. i went to two parties this weekend that underscored my current age and my waning desire to go out to nightclubs and other bars. an internal growth i didn’t think would ever happen – but not an unpleasant one.
