I wouldn't get too worried about some of this stuff. About two years ago I went shopping for Plasma TVs and was really disappointed. Great for static images but the images shadowed horribly on movement. Despite the pixel density, the quality was far worse than my ancient (OK 8 years) cathode ray TV. Then the next big thing was LCD (generation 1, then generation 2,...). Likewise, aside from pixels, still don't match old technology. And the prices have fallen a lot in the meantime. By the time quality is good, the prices will be reasonable. I suspect that by next year something similar will happen with XBOX360; the next generation which is far better will be out and possibly half the price.
