- April 4, 2009 -- Community Yard Sale --
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Buy and sell secondhand items in the
site's picnic area at our first-ever community yard sale. Free

- May 2, 2009 -- Planting Day -- 10:00
a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Come learn how to transplant tobacco
seedlings and help the site start its yearly tobacco field. Free.
- June 6, 2009 -- Herb, Garden and Craft
Festival -- 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a wide variety
of herb and craft vendors, 19th century games for children,
traditional herbal use displays, and refreshments. In the
afternoon, hear musicians, enjoy craft demonstrations, and more. Free.
- September 12, 2009 -- Tobacco Harvest
and Hornworm
Festival -- 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In the
morning, come see costumed interpreters demonstrate tobacco
harvesting, stringing, and curing. In the afternoon, hear the
sounds of the only tobacco auction left in Durham. Throughout
the day, enjoy the hornworm festival, which will be highlighted by the
3rd Annual Duke Homestead Hornworm Race. Free.

by Candlelight -- 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Celebrate an
1870 Christmas during evening tours of the Homestead. The tour
features period decorations, caroling, hot apple cider, and other
goodies. Free.
