Date: Mon, 12 Feb 1996 From: David Fideler Subject: Special Course on Sacred Geometry "Sacred Harmony: The Patterns of Nature and the Ways of Knowing" The ALEXANDRIA journal is sponsoring a three-day summer institute on what the study of sacred geometry has to contribute to the world today. The course will be taught by Michael Schneider, author of the recently published A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO CONSTRUCTING THE UNIVERSE: THE MATHEMATICAL ARCHETYPES OF NATURE, ART, AND SCIENCE (HarperCollins) and myself, editor of THE PYTHAGOREAN SOURCEBOOK AND LIBRARY and the ALEXANDRIA journal. --David Fideler - phanes@cris.com <> GENERAL THEME "Sacred Harmony: The Patterns of Nature and the Ways of Knowing" - OVER the past several centuries with the rise of technical specialization, we have become very good at "taking the world apart," but how do we put it back together? Can the study of nature's own harmonies provide an important key? Nature's patterns of sharing allow living things to function in the best possible way. Through the use of good proportion, nature's forms embody fitness, beauty, and patterns of integration that link the part with the whole. The study of these harmonies and proportional patterns can transform our vision of the world, because they allow us to see and relate to the world in deeper, more accurate ways. Through the study of proportion and harmony, we can see that the world is not a collection of "things," but a pattern of dynamic relationships. This course will investigate traditional ideas about harmony, the patterns of the cosmos, and humanity's relationship to the living universe. We will explore the historical background of these ideas, but will also look at their significance in today's world. What is the nature and meaning of harmony? What is a cosmos? Is there an order to the universe? How do the harmonies and patterns of nature arise? And what is our own relationship to the larger soul of the world? We will explore the principle of harmony as it expresses itself in nature, art, music, myth, and science. We will also focus on the proportions and harmonious patterns embodied in plants, animals, and nature's designs. Why does nature use these harmonies? What can we learn from them? And how can we approach the world with a deeper sense of vision and insight? <><><> THE SACRED LANDSCAPE Homepage http://www.luckymojo.com/sacredland.html SACRED GEOMETRY -- WHAT IS IT? http://www.luckymojo.com/sacreddefined.html THE SACRED LANDSCAPE BIBLIOGRAPHY http://www.luckymojo.com/bibliocontents.html From this website, this reference: - Screeton, Paul Quicksilver Heritage: The Mystic Leys, Their Legacy of Ancient Wisdom Abacus 1977 Keywords: natural sacred sites, megaliths, mounds, petroglyphs, houses of worship, archaeoastronomical observatories, symbolic landscaping, ley lines, religion, myth, folklore, astrology, UFOs, Atlantis, sacred site tourism, prehistoric, ancient, medieval, Europe Comment: The former editor of "The Ley Hunter" examines ancient sites, legends, churches, flora and fauna, heavens, astrology, UFOs, vanished civilizations, terrestrial zodiacs. ley hunting, ley geometry, field work. He has spent many years in the investigation and artistic expression of sacred geometry. His work portrays the philosophy that "the wisdom of nature is the best example of how to live." The purpose of his art is to offer a way to get in touch with the inherent harmony and cosmological order that exists throughout the universe. http://www.danwinter.com/quintin/ Sacred Geometry Coloring Book http://www.best.com/~dna/fol/ San Graal School of Sacred Geometry http://www.sangraal.com/ Sacred Geometry at The Integratron homepage (a must see - LL) http://www.integratron.com/5SacredGeometry/SacredGeometry.html QDC Sacred Geometry http://www.ozi.com/qdc/fractal/sacred.html Sacred Geometry Discovery http://home.dmv.com/~vincent/ Celestial Dynamics http://www.celestial-dynamics.com/
