Detergent and Corn Oil vs. Mealybugs

Florida orchid grower Ann Mann suggests in the latest _Hobby Greenhouse_
a "kitchen remedy" for mealybugs: one tablespoon of INEXPENSIVE
dishwashing detergent and one tablespoon of CORN oil (don't use any other
kind of oil!) per gallon of water. Shake the mix and spray on plants
infested with mealybugs or scale insects; it might also work for
controlling aphids. Ms. Mann has seen no damage to orchids, bromeliads,
aroids, or hoyas due to using the recipe on them.
We'd [HortIdeas] be interested in hearing your results if you try this
concoction on either indoor or outdoor plants.
