Different Skies: Day 1

Just wrapping up after the first day. A number of folks were quite delayed – Mike and company ended up having to drive way out of their way to avoid snow, so they’ll not be in until very late. Otso, John 3, and Jim Combs got in just as I was headed back to my room so we shook hands in the dark and stumbled to our rooms.

Got set up and found that the new snake I got works great for the SD-1, not so great for everything else. The inspired bit was bringing the Apple Pro speakers and the Griffin iFire to use as monitors. They’re perfect. I had planned to just use them as speakers for the laptop, but they worked great as monitors. I’m set up and ready to roll. Everything’s just right – SD-1, MIDI setup, VSTs on the iBook; I am ready to roll.

We ended up improvising with the Tibetan bowl I brought along – that may turn into a piece. The jams fell together really well. I think this is going to be really good.

Very tired now – been up since 4:30. Time for bed.
