The EMUSIC-L archive is a service of SunSite (sunsite.unc.edu) at the University of North Carolina. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 29 Apr 89 01:31:40 EDT From: Eric Harnden Subject: jambox i don't know about you, but i've found the jambox to be a world of trouble. first, make *sure* that the 'echo merge' mode is turned off. do not ever under any circumstances use it. the problem is that the box is a 'smart' interface. it does not process midi information in the manner of a pipeline. it generates it internally, according to incoming information from its mac, midi, and sync ports. loading down its busses causes it to hiccup. further, use the dropdown menu utility called 'muting', and turn off all midi data on all cables not actually in use. again, the thing gets loaded much too easily otherwise. if you're still having problems call back.. i want to know. you see, i'm having a problem with the monster that i'm not sure of. i've got a waveframe being driven by a sequencer through the jambox, and there are conditions where timed events fall out of sync, and i can't quite tell if it's the jambox or the waveframe slowing down. i think we ought to compile a list of jambox problems and send them on out to southworth.
