Someone could talk about this? I presume that this chips was 'born' in early 70's, when the integrated circuits technology growed. Some questions are: Which functions they realize, are still in production (i think not)? Today equivalents? Books with circuit design? I'm very interested in to build a modular analog synth, to make my self experiences with E-music. If you can help, too many thanks. Now I know that PAiA seems to have a bad rap 'round here but, FYI - they have listed a number of CEM chips for all us DIY types. I haven't heard anyone complain about them, but on the other hand I've never heard anyone exclaiming how good they were either. Next, is PAiA the only supplier of the CEM chips? I'm about to make it my business to construct a modular synth system and so will need a supply of CEM chips. Just curious, haven't ever seen CEM chips anywhere (not even Newark's catalog), and think that $15.95 for an ADSR chip and $12.50 for a single VCO are a bit steep. Does anyone know of chips like the CEM line made by other manufacturers? Any catalog I've looked at has been wonderfully devoid of music-used ICs. I wouldn't mind a chip not so well designed as the CEM chips, as I like to build things. No it isn't a valid comparison, because the chips in the Polysix aren't made by CEM.
