Actually, the latest rev of the EPS OS, 2.49 (for the EPS Classic, that is; I don't know about the EPS-16+), is pretty stable, assuming you don't want to use the sequencer. I remember having the problem you described with earlier revisions, but it seems to have mostly gone away these days. Good thing, too, since they're probably not spending much time on it any more. > >ALSO - the new Skinny Puppy CD (TOO DARK PARK) is awesome. The new Skinny Puppy album is Last Rights. Too Dark Park is the next-to- newest. And personally I find them both unlistenable, despite being a long-time Skinny Puppy fan. > Crappy sleeve artwork though. Good God, yes. Last Rights has somewhat better art, for what that's worth. > Dunno if I prefer Park or Cleanse/Fold/Manip. > - I'll have to listen to them some more. To me, their new stuff is too overbearing and dense -- I liked them a lot more when their arrangements were sparser. And yes, I'm finally getting tired of Ogre's vocals, too. > The Doubting Thomas album is > mercifully free from this noise. Anyone heard the Cyberaktif album yet? I have an early single, which is not bad, but I haven't picked up the album yet. Cyberaktif is yet another Skinny Puppy spinoff; perhaps it will show some of their instrumental prowess but not force Ogre's vocals upon us. --Adam schabtac@stout.atd.ucar.edu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 May 1992 00:01:50 +0000 From: Nick Rothwell Subject: Re: EPS Weirdness... >I am using the latest software rev and when I clear my memory, the screen >will display my normal 4082 (APPROX.) blocks of free memory. Yeah, David Ogilvie is probably the only singer who has to have two big, beefy equipment roadies. >The Doubting Thomas album is mercifully free from this noise. The Doubting Thomas I've got sounds like "Skinny Puppy Lite" -- not nearly as dangerous, IMHO. Have you heard Hilt (also a "cevin Key" thing, with a different singer -- in fact the singer kind of sounds like Trent Reznor!). And here I thought I was the only person who was buying Skinny Puppy. Well, I probably AM the only person in Alabama. I'm talking about The Infidel and the Father Don't Cry EP. Actually I'd rather have good music than dangerous music, and if all the skill and talent is smothered behind someone shouting about rotting corpses and dismemberment or whatever, I'll pass. >And here I thought I was the only person who was buying Skinny Puppy. Actually I've not bought any of the stuff - these are loans. I did buy the Doubting Thomas stuff though. Nick. ------------------------------ End of the EMUSIC-L Digest ******************************
