If you are a subscriber to a list that is not mentioned here, please add your list to the MLOL described below. Here you go... ********************* THE MOTHER OF ALL LISTS ****************************** This is the one to get: "The Musical List of Lists" Presented by The Cleveland FreeNet Music SIG Distributed on February 23, 1992 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To be added to the mlol distribution list, send mail to mlol-request@wariat.nshore.ncoast.org with the subject as: ADD """"" ANYTHING ELSE sent to mlol-request WILL BE IGNORED! Members post questions, answers, informal reviews, and other information. The mailing list includes nearly 90 men and women from North America, Europe, and Australia. Recently sample swapping (via e-mail and ftp) has started. Ask the group how to join in (PD software avaliable). All you need is a PC/Mac/Atari with a 3.5" drive and some way of getting files off the network into the PC /Mac/Atari.. To subscribe to the list send your email details to: eps-request@reed.edu The address for the mailing list is: eps@reed.edu When you send email to that address, the machine there sends a copy to each individual on the list. If you have problems or questions about to using the list, send your query to one of these addresses: eps-request@reed.edu owner-eps@reed.edu niski@reed.edu Please don't send subscribe/unsunscribe requests to the list (eps@reed.edu). Archives of past discussions are available as compressed text files via anonymous ftp to reed.edu. The file(s) are in /pub/mailing-lists/eps, and were compressed with the UNIX "compress" utility. There are quite a few archives available in the format "eps-digestN.Z" where N = (1,2,3...N) "eps-digest1.Z" starts the archives and covers the period from November 1990 through the end of 1991. Drop Joe Niski a line if you need further info... niski@reed.edu Computer User Services 503-777-7525 Reed College, Portland, OR 97202 ********************************************** Ensoniq VFX/VFXsd/SD1 to subscribe: vfx-request@ucdavis.edu to post: vfx@ucdavis.edu ********************************************** Mirage Samplers: The Mirage-Net lives. This is not a forum for flame wars, either, but for intelligent discussion. :) Hopefully, this will turn into a FAQ & I'll whip up something to automatically post it occasionally. FAQ: 1. What is "progressive rock"? Whereas each person can come up with his own definition, and no two are ever the same, the "progressive rock"" this newsgroup has in mind is the art rock movement of the early 70's -- including bands like Yes, Genesis, and so on. Also, bands like Rush and Marillion which were profoundly influenced by the movement, to the extent that it shows in their music.. 2. What isn't "progressive rock"? Progressive rock, in the context of this newsgroup, is *not* "alternative" rock, bands like REM, Queenschryche, Metallica, Jesus Jones, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, or anything like that. These groups may meet your personal definition of "progressive", but they aren't for the purposes of this newsgroup. If you want to discuss these bands, please go to alt.music.alternative. 3.
