Is it velocity senstive, meaning does it send more than one velocity number? I have the Fairlight, and they discontinued it before they put that in, although there are some beta versions of the ROM with it in. That is the main drawback, no velocity sensitivity. I would be interested in one more thing: does the IVL capture 'glissando' or you have to play (or sing) only separate notes ? And what does it happen when you play fast very short notes ? > ... > What can you tell me about the rolands. And perhaps another one (which brand?) MIDI- Mike from a guitarist. If it is of any interest to you, I'll send you more info when I'll get them. ----------------------------- in reply to Re: voice-to-MIDI > VOICE TO MIDI: ROLAND VOICE PROCESSOR VP-70, HAS BEEN ON THE MARKET FOR > SEVERAL YEARS NOW. HENRY The same questions interest me about the VP-70: what does it do with glissandos? fast notes? loudness? (does it recognise only pitch and note-on or is it a little bit more intelligent?) And when it comes to this, I wonder if there is a pitch-to-MIDI converter which converts 'expression' or 'texture' of the input signal in program changes or some controllers... If you have an octave pitchbend on both the IVL and the synth you could do an ocatve gliss. It responds to fast, slurred input, although, it does not shine in this area. Yes, I would like any info on the Roland Devices. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 Sep 1992 20:52:49 EDT From: "Henry,Otto,W" Subject: Re: more voice-to-MIDI Re Roland VP 70: It won't track glissando, just triggers chromatic pitches. It has some velocity sensitivity, but it's hard to control. Frankly, it's a bit freaky, but it's all I have right now! ------------------------------ End of the EMUSIC-L Digest ******************************
