I'd like it to include the following features: - *very* high quality sound, like blow me out of the water. This might seem obvious, but I have seen some units with rather mediocre sound, at best. - weighted keys and touch sensitivity - at least two acoustic and two electric piano patches. I'd really like one of the electric piano sounds to be a classic Rhodes sound right out of the 60s, but this isn't necessary. BTW, can one get this sound anywhere? - 73 keys - price range from $2500-$3000 The last piano that had most of these features that really caught my ear was the Yamaha PF-1500, but that was a couple of years ago and I'm sure some of you know of newer and better models. I thank you in advance for your comments and suggestions. --> Mike squillac@student.msu.edu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Feb 1993 16:28:04 CET From: Rick Jansen Subject: Re: hard disk recording In article <01GU3GECS0UQ94GKND@SSCVAX.CIS.MCMASTER.CA>, SHAWN MORGAN says: > >Does anybody know what's available in terms of speed and capacity for hard >disk recording? Organization: Saint Mary's College of Minnesota This is my first post so I hope it goes through..... I was wondering if anyone had been having problems with the Mac Quadra 700 in conjunction with Passport's Pro5 (ver 5.2)... I get real nasty feedback and stuck notes when using a configuration that uses both the modem and printer ports. (I tried the obvious- - MIDI manager on/off etc). When I hooked up a Mac CI to the same system, it worked fine. I figure that it has to be the Quadra because I tried a different Quadra CPU and encountered the same problem. Anyways, I would appreciate any suggestions to either the list or my Internet address. Thanks, Mike MJSLAGGI@REX.MNSMC.EDU P.S. FYI, we're using Altech systems 1-in, 3-out interfaces with Roland gear. I would like to control the whole thing using MIDI and SMPTE, while running an outboard 8-track recording deck. I am a guitar player, so much of this is completely foreign to me. I have several questions: 1. can anyone direct me to an active discussion on these topics either on Usenet, in a bitnet group, or somewhere in "net-land"? 2. any recommendations on some good equipment to start looking into? (please include ballpark prices if known) please note: I'm currently using an EISA 486-50, so speed shouldnt be a problem. I would like to take full advantage of the 32-bit EISA bus. Please direct any replies to m4465@moncol.monmouth.edu. Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice. Bob Marshall /////////////////////////////////// // Robert P. Pricey, because they are usually RAM cards loaded with the sounds. Better to get a computer editor and make up your own sets (compiled from your favorites). I do own a card, so as to expand the number of patches available without having to reload the machine. Buy an issue of Keyboard. Check the ads. Many patch companies will still sell their K1 sounds on RAM cards.
