I'm new to this list so, if this is a faq please be tolerant. I've just acquired an Adlib sound card for my IBM PC. I already have a Roland MPU-401 midi card in my computer. Can these two operate in the same computer? A friend told me that they are completely incompatible and that I should abandon trying have both in my computer. I need the midi card to sequence a Roland D-20 and other midi machines; I would like the Adlib to create game sounds. Can anyone offer any helpful information before I abandon trying to install the Adlib card? All information will be appreciated. Thanks for the information in advance. After talking to Twelve Tone tech support I reported here that they were sending me v1.05, which was supposed to fix the problem of the SMPTE buffer overflowing and causing the sequencer to stop playing. It didn't (fix it that is). GRRRR. It looks like a great program but only has graphic drivers for ega and vga. It says that it will run on any computer that is an XT or above and has at least 512k ram. But it only has 2 graphic drivers. Does anyone else use this program? Any solutions? Does antone have a customer service number for them? I tried 1-800-444-DYNA but it didn't seem to work. Thanks. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 5 Mar 1993 11:08:33 -0500 From: Timothy Griffin Subject: IBM Software for Mirage DSK Once upon a time, a man named Bill Fleischer (sp?) wrote a little program called MDE - Mirage Disk Editor. I recently got a copy of this program (shareware evaluation) from the MUSO BBS in California. The copy I have was only half completed, and was dated around 1988. Does anyone know where I could find a more recent copy of this little program? Was it ever completed? Is Bill Fleischer still out there? I love my Mirage... and would love to be able to do some cheap sample editing on my XT. Thanks! It seems to be a very usable and inexpensive board. Also, can anyone recommend a MIDI software program that will allow me to compose software for this. I would really appreciate some input. From some sources I have seen recommendations for Cakewalk Professional but would like to hear from users of this product. Is it worth $349 and if not where can it be had cheaper? ----------------------- Thomas Heng Nuclear Design Engineer Email at tom@oppd.gov ----------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Mar 1993 12:01:26 -0500 From: Timothy Griffin Subject: Standard Midi File to Cakewalk 2.0 Hey - MusicNetters - does anyone know where I could locate a utility to convert Standard Midi Files to Cakewalk 2.0 (for DOS)? I know the version of Cakewalk is a little dated, but... Anyone with a copy of a utility out there that they could 'uuencode' and mail to me? If so, that would be brill! Any BBSs that have such a utility? (Or should I just move to a newer version of Cakewalk?!) I use the driver for MPU-401 and have hellova trouble. It doesn't work well at all. If so, please notify me. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 11 Mar 1993 04:28:15 GMT From: "Daniel B.
