I find that when I'm using Finale, I often (but not always) get patch changes sent to my master keyboard, and whatever I do manually won't override the message. I'm using a Kawai K4. I don't really mind; I'm using it more for notation than for playback, but it's getting kind of annoying. Any ideas? If you choose Special|Options from the menu, and uncheck "Send Patches Before Play" this may solve your problem. Thanks for the suggestion, but "send patches before play" was already unselected. This isn't something that happens only during playback. As soon as the program is opened, I lose manual control of the patches on my synth. (i.e., if I try, by hand, to choose a bank and patch number in single mode, it puts me in a different bank and patch number in multi mode.) It seems as though it may be a particular compatability problem with the Kawai K4. It doesn't happen with other MIDI software, and it doesn't affect other synths and modules in the midi network. (Although I haven't tried hooking up another keyboard as the master keyboard.) Does this sound familiar to anyone? (It IS a puzzlement...) Hate to say it, but that would certainly be illegal, if the person still has Finale 3.0. Moreover, teh damn shrink wrap license probably claims that even the newly updated version does not belong to the buyer and the buyer should count himself damn lucky to even own the disks it came on. I agree that $599 is fairly ludicrous for a piece of software only to be told you don't own it anyway and you'll pay for the damn upgrades to the software you lisence, too... -- Arne F. Look for a dealer and ask about the the educational discount. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Feb 1994 06:31:18 GMT From: General Bat Guano Subject: Finale 3.0 Is there a new version of Finale out there for IBM? I have 2.0.1 or something like that. And, if there is a new version, is there an upgrade option? I spoke with reps from Coda at a recent state music convention here in Texas and was told they are incorporating features in the new Windows version that will leapfrong the Mac 3.0. They didn't give me any information regarding on an upgrade option. ************************************************************ *Kenneth Goodson *Atlanta High School * *Band Director/UIL Computer Science*705 Rabbit Blvd * *kgoodson@tenet.edu *Atlanta, TX 75551 * *(903) 796-4636 (home) *(903) 796-7213 (office)* ************************************************************ "Up, up and away, in my beautiful balloon"-Fifth Dimension On Mon, 21 Feb 1994, General Bat Guano wrote: > Is there a new version of Finale out there for IBM? However, despite following all the directions in the manuals, I have failed to get the metronome to click as a beat reference. On screen, the dots appear correctly in the left buffer box but there is no metronome click. Can anyone help?
