It has software for use with Mac or Amiga. I own one. I'm have trouble getting the software to do what I want it to do. If anyone out there is also using this wonderful piece of electronics (I do love it, though not the manual or software) send me a note (this may be too specialized to take up bandwidth on the list). Hello, Last month I bought a "Golden Sound 16 Pro" - a PC soundcard (Soundblaster compatible) manufactured in Taiwan by Toptek Micro Computer INC. The board come with some softwares from Voyetra Technologies (S.P.Jr. and Multimedia Sound Software) and a multimedia tool called TopShow (for Windows), but when I try to execute TopShow I get these messages from Windows: "File not found: MHTR200.VBX", "Unexpected error - Quiting TopShow". The dealer, here in Brazil, has no solution until this moment. As Toptek maintain a BBS in USA-California (see below) and I have no modem (but have access to BITNET at work), I would like to know if someone in USA can help me to obtain (via e-mail) the file MHTR200.VBX (I suppose that it may there be in their BBS). Or if you bought the same board and have the TopShow program running please send me a reply. Thank you very much for your time! Subject: Internal DAT for music Direct disk recording and editing is great. I have the Media-Vision Pro-Audio 16 card with stereo analog, MIDI, and SCSI I/O. How can I get the digital data to a DAT format tape without going back through the analog ports? I would like to use an internal DAT drive to write and read music compatible DAT tapes at the 44.1 KHz CD compatible sample rate, as well as to do hard disk backup. Wangtek has internal DAT drives for around $600, but their technical support people won't return my calls on this subject (any subject?). From what I can find out, the physical format of internal DAT drives is the same as the music DAT format. Does anyone know if internal DAT drives can do music tapes? Are there windows 3.1 or DOS drivers already written to do it? Thanks, EMUSIC and IBMSND folks in advance for any help. I am a beginner and I have a few questions to aid me in possibly expanding my music set up at home or just getting general advice. This is my current (simple) set-up: MacIIsi running System 6.0.7 OpCodes's MusicShop - this is the sequencer I use MusicTime/Trax - which I have only used a couple of times OpCodes's EditOne with the Matrix-6 patch editor OpCodes's MIDI Translator II (mac-midi interface) Oberheim Matrix-6 (bi-timbral, 6 voice analog synth w/midi) I currently spend about half my music making time practicing "piano" on the Matrix and the other half "playing" with the midi/sequencer recording and manipulating sound and making simple tunes/compositions. I would like to as inexpensively as possible add multitimbral capability to the set up. There are two good ways I know of, a sound module or a sampler. My feeling is that I will get more sounds/multitimbrality out of a sound module for the money. Is this correct? Well, I guess I can get many more (infinite?) sounds out of a sampler, but in order to do this I would need lots of memory=money. Any advice would be appreciated. I do know that the most important thang is to listen to the sounds to see if they If I have a sound module, can I then use software that will assign different keys of the Matrix to different patches of the sound module, or can I only have access to one sound module patch at a time via the Matrix keyboard? I don't think MusicShop can do this. I am lacking knowledge in this area. Am I limiting myself using MusicShop over some of the more advanced/professional sequencers available? What am I missing considering my set up using MusicShop instead of say Vision? One minor question: Would I gain anything midi/music-wise by running System 7 on my Mac, I run NO other software other than the midi/music programs. I haven't re-installed System 7 as I believe that System 6 is faster, and I am already annoyed by the sluggishness when using sequencing software. I am bascially interested in inexpensively improving what I have, from my limited knowledge of midi and e-music I would think it would be adding multitimbral capability, if anyone has other suggestions they would be welcome. Any help would be appreciated. Digidesign makes an Audiomedia LC which fitsin the normal LC type slots. It is identical to the Audiomedia II except that it does not have digital in/out and uses mini-jacks for connections instead of RCA. It is also about $200 cheaper than the Audiomedia II. -- Arne F. Actually, you're dead right! The problem is that Cakewalk can "talk" to the MPU-401 or the Sound Blaster, but usually not both at the same time. Check your manuals for Cakewalk or contact TwelveTone Systems technical support for further answers on exactly how to do this. Or perhaps someone on the list knows the configuration sequence I speak of? I hope this helps a little. J. Well I'm only 39 and I used to have an Adlib board that worked just fine simultaneouly with my MQX32m. Recently I "upgraded" my whole system including switching to a Soundblaster ASP16 (alright, I play games, OK?) and so far my feeble attempts to play the SB through Wincake have failed. Why would I want to do that? I dunno...it's there. My directions may not be clear as I use a dutch version of windows and do not remenber the right english terms, anyhow here we go. Open the windows main group open the configuration window open the window that allows your to add and remove system drivers locate the soundblaster drivers remove them temporarely reinstall cakewalk return to the configuration/drivers install window check whether the cakewalk driver is present if not install it using the add button Test whether the drivers are ok. There may be another problem, if I interprete your drawing correctly, you have both a midi interface and a soundblaster installed in your system. probably not possible. I had to remove the soundblaster in order to get my midi interface to work. If you're very apt at manipulating switches and adresses you may find a configuration that allows both cards to word simultaniously. I didn't succeed in that area. >I am almost 45 years old and I'm running out of time...(gasp) :( I know the feeling, I'm 44 ............
