Perry" Subject: Electronic music and midi achives ONLINE !!! I don't know if this has been mentino before- I haven't heard talk on this subject matter in a while so I just thought I would let you folks hear about this one. On page 38 in the August 1994 edition of Electronic Musician there is an ad for the PAN Network which gives you "access to thousands of MIDI song files, patches and samples, song lyrics, guitar tab files, MIDI software titles and freee programs and utilties...". That what they say in the ad. Since most of us here have internet accounts I'll give you the address fo the site... According to the ad, simply telnet to pan.com Have fun- and if anyone needs addition info they can post here or email me directly. In extreme cases, I suppose I could prepare a gif of the advertisement if there was enough request for it. Have fun... Keith C. I noticed that when you telnet: At the "Username" prompt, type PANJOIN At the "Authorisation Code" type ADVANTAGE You will be asked a question which you should answer "Y" or else you'll get kicked out ! It then takes through how much it costs to join the PAN NETWORK. The ad gives its Internet address as: pan@pan.com ! Adios. Its WWW server is now accessible on the Internet. It is, for the time being, only in french, and offers: 1. Informations on Ircam's activities in music (incl. the 94-95 musical season) and research (acoustics, digital signal processing, etc, together with sound illustrations). 2. Information on its degree-granting programs. 3. Access to Ircam's music library and sound archive catalogues for online searches. as well as to a bibliography of published papers by Ircam people. 4. Ircam's publications and recordings, and how to order. 5. Ircam's licenced software as well as its ftp server. Moreover, it provides access to other WWW servers through thematic searches (by keyword, e.g.), in a database we set up. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Jul 1994 18:06:56 -0500 From: Joe McMahon Subject: On vacation next week... I'll be away from e-mail for four days next week (Monday through Thursday). Any problems with various mailing lists & so on will have to wait to be resolved until I return. In a real pinch, send mail to jim@auvm.american.edu - he's the LISTSERV God at AU and should be able to fixc any problems you might have. I'll still seek out people posting ads on EMUSIC-L once I get back, though. :) --- Joe M. -- "Now hold it down for an hour.
