I've been playing with the old "Jam Factory" demo (Mac) lately and this
program is really cool - I like it better than "M" in a lot of ways. I know it
isn't supported anymore, but it's pretty annoying that the demo keeps quitting
after ten to twenty minutes - does anyone know where or how I might obtain a
*registered* (uncrippled) version?
What happens to old programs like this? Someone somewhere has to have the
copyright - what are they doin' with it? If they don't wanna mess with it or
support it anymore, couldn't they at least release it to the public? Why sit on
it; why bury it?
I'm glad the Electronic Music Foundation re-released "M" as *historically
important software*, I'd like to see them do the same with "UpBeat" and "Jam
Factory". If these programs are no longer supported, how hard would it be for a
programmer to *get in there* and remove the time limit? If the program is no
longer supported, who would it hurt?

Hi everyone,

I've been on the list for less than two days now, so please excuse the sore
of hearing the same question once again (I'm sure it popped up before). I am
looking for net sites that keep MIDI files, s_p_e_c_i_f_i_c_a_l_l_y all
kinds of drum grooves MIDI'ed for everyone to taste and use. I am using my
company's mail server, so I can't use conventional browsers or search
engines for policy reasons. I, nevertheless, will appreciate if you mail me
a HTTP/FTP site address that I could explore in the future.

Thanks in advance. Please send a private e-mail to GLUS@TCO.INFONET.COM

Regards everyone,

Dmitri Glushenko

We have just learned that the American composer, teacher, and flutist Otto
Luening died here in New York City yesterday. He was 96. I will post
additional details in a day or so.

For further information on Luening and his music, please contact the American
Music Center. Luening was, by the way, one of the founders of the Center (in
1939).

Best,

Eero
