Subject: Newbie needs info...

Greetings, everyone! I should inform you all first that this is a class
assignment in which I am to subscribe to a list and seek out various
info such as stats and topics discussed. I have chosen EMUSIC-L because
I am a 15 yr musician (primarily on piano, having studied both classical
and jazz) who is very curious about electronic music. I am very
desperate to know where to start as a beginner in this field. Please
respond with your suggestions on where to seek info, what programs to
download (what programs do you suggest downloading from the Internet?),
and any other helpful tid-bits you can offer. Thank you all very much
for your time. Take care...
                                        Hugs and butterfly kisses,
                                                Stacy L Latta

P.S. Sorry about the pathetic structure of my message. I shield my
eyes in shame for I am a college student... hehe

Stacy:

Welcome to field! Are you interested in composing and/or Performing? What
forms of electronic music have sparked your interest? Did you see/hear
something interesting?

I compose, using an electronic ensemble, mainly because it's the most
economical way to hear your own creation, without the expense of a real
orchestra. I wouldn't say, however, that I composed in a specifically
"electronic" way (genre). I prefer traditional orchestrations... the
computer and keyboard give me the means to accomplish this with adequate
results.

Keep in touch,
Steve Gallant (sgallant@ibl.bm)

Hi all,

If you read the list of songs below, you'll have an idea of the kind of
music I compose.
Would you know anything I might like which is not included in this list ?

Thanks a bunch,

Topher.

FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON:lifeforms (Virgin)
WILLIAM ORBIT:strange cargo vol 2 (N-gram,WEA)
THE SOURCE EXPERIENCE:different journeys (R&S records)

We would like it, to take a look and tell us what you think about the page.
Are there other WEB pages for composers?
