Self Portraits

I have been having fun doing self-portraits. I've never done this before, but I discovered that I love self portraits. I can try ridiculous things that I would be embarrassed to try otherwise. It's pretty fun to make faces at yourself. Here's the first couple.

A life of roses

13" X 19"
Freemotion embroidery (face) with collage of embroidered and printed flowers.

It's About Time

I don't have the dimensions on this. I created it for the Chapel Hill self portrait project. Everyone in town is encouraged to make a self portrait.

I wanted this to be a fun and fast exploration of ideas in drawing/embroidery. The base is a standard apron from the thrift shop (I hate the blue, but the yellow one there was even worse).

Clouds and palm tree are acrylic paints
Cherries and 'paper'dolls are fabric cutouts
Pocket watch is a rubber stamp with colored pencil
