Search
The search page can be reached by clicking the "Search" button on the menu bar located at the top of the screen on any page of the website. You can search for items in the catalog by filling in one or multiple fields on the search page and then clicking search.
More fields to search by can be viewed by clicking the text "Show/Hide Advanced Search Options". Additional fields related to the type of item will also appear once a media type of the item you are searching for is selected.
The keyword will search most text fields of the catalog entries including title, author, description etc.
Filling in multiple fields to search by will narrow your results. If you are not finding what you are looking for, try searching again with less fields filled in to search by. If your search yields too many results try searching again with more information about the item you are searching for.
Browse
The browse function is helpful when you are not sure exactly what item you are searching for. Clicking "audio" or "video" will bring up all items in the catalog of that type that are in the language listed to the left of the link. You can also browse all the equipment items by clicking the "Equipment" link at the bottom of the page.
Please note that not all equipment items are viewable to the public. If you do not see an item of any type that you are looking for please inform the administrator.
Reserving a Resource
To reserve a resource click the Resource button on the top menu bar of the website. This will bring you to a list of the current reservations for all items. Please review this list before continuing as someone in your department may have already reserved the item you need, in which case you would just contact that person about using it.
If you do not see the item you need you can click the "Reserve a Resource" button on that page or click the "Search" button on the side menu bar to continue. Either button will bring you to the search page where you can enter information you know about the item you are looking for, such as, the title or subject language. (See Search for more details.)
From the Search Result page you can click on the title or name of the item you would like to reserve to see more details about that item. From both the Search Result page and the item's detail page, you can view current reservations to see if the item will be available for the time you would like to reserve it. On the item's detail page there is a link by the status of that item to reserve the resource. Clicking this link will bring you to the reservation request page.
Fill in the appropriate information on the request page. Dates must be entered in the format MM/DD/YYYY or by clicking the icon next to the date fields and selecting a date from the pop-up calendar. If you would like this item to be put on reserve for students to use in the Media Lab click the Media Lab checkbox and fill in a class. A staff member will review your request for the reservation of this item and email you to confirm it.
