Case:
Scientists at the National Institutes of Health have developed an innovative way to track a potential new variant of the H1N1 virus. To test the algorithm they created, they will observe incidences of H1N1 and predict future carriers of the disease based on Facebook information. In order to test their algorithm, Facebook profiles of H1N1 infectees, as well as the Facebook profiles of their friends, must be downloaded to NIH (government) servers for analysis. The NIH agrees to terms of use with Facebook, so as to protect the identities of people's profiles they've downloaded for analysis.
