GDunc's Moodle Site

What is GDunc's Moodle??

This site is the personal project of a public school teacher who just loves Free and Open Source Software. See: Duncan's Classroom Web Portal.

It was developed for the use of any teacher who wants to try out a Blackboard alternative. This generally includes those friends and colleagues who teach Network Engineering or some other Technology course. However, you're just as likely to find other courses here as well.

Most of the courses hosted here are closed to the public, but, feel free to look around if you'd like.... cool

This site is not endorsed or supported by ANY public school system. For more information on this site, contact gdunc [at] ibiblio [dot] org. Information on how to start your own moodle site can be found at http://moodle.org.

What's with the Penguin??

The Penguin is the official symbol of the Linux operating system - the ultimate in Free and Open Source Software. He's called "Tux" in the Linux community... It was chosen because, well, it represents free and open source software.

The penguin you see in the logo above is a slightly modified version of "Smart Tux" from Crystal XP's Tux Factory. He's smart because he knows there is a choice in operating systems. Smart Tux is looking at both Windows Vista and Fedora. There are other Linux versions too, recommendations include: Ubuntu, MEPIS, and CentOS. Try it, you might like it. smile

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.
