4. Printing

4.1. MS Windows Clients In A Linux Environment

MS Windows clients can print directly to some kinds of printers (HP printers using "Jet Direct", for example), and for others, the Linux "Samba" server service can make Linux print queues visible to MS Windows hosts. The one annoying part here is that the client often needs to pick the type of printer to be printed to; copying the DLLs to the samba server so that this can be automated probably violates your Microsoft license.

XXX need an example configuration where the user picks the correct driver.

4.2. Linux Clients in a MS Windows Environment

Most Linux distributions now have a printer configuration gui; for example, in RedHat it is under the System Settings menu item. You can both print directly to many kinds of printers (i.e. HP printers using "Jet Direct") or via a Windows print server.
