Yes, I have
two bothers (er, brothers), but it was (and is) my sister who
taught me about friendship and the risks of caring. She married
a man who has been more of a brother than others (who should
have been) could ever be. She taught at NYU, he at UGA (that
was an interesting commute), and they raised a wonderful daughter
who's attending UNC now. When I had no family, they were home.
When I was happy, they made it more so. And when I thought I
had few options, they showed me I could have everything I wanted
. . . if I was willing to work for it.
